Botanical illustration sits at the intersection of close observation, technical drawing, and pure love of the natural world. These private lessons are designed for anyone drawn to the detail and beauty of plant life who wants to learn how to capture it on paper.

Taught by the artist behind the Petal and Ink botanical coloring book series, these sessions blend traditional illustration technique with a warm, encouraging approach that works for beginners and experienced artists alike.

What we cover:

• Observational drawing of plants, flowers, and botanical subjects
• Line quality, contour, and detail work
• Value, texture, and surface rendering
• Working from live specimens and reference
• Introduction to color in botanical illustration
• Developing your own style within the genre

Sessions are 60 minutes and held virtually via Zoom or Google Meet, or in person for local students in the Charlottesville area. A materials list will be provided before your first session.
