Colored pencil is one of the most underestimated mediums in fine art. In the right hands it produces work of extraordinary depth, detail, and luminosity. These private lessons will show you how to get there.

Taught by a working colored pencil artist whose work has been featured on the cover of Ann Kullberg’s CP Hidden Treasures, these sessions are designed for beginners and students with some experience who want to move beyond scratchy, flat results and start making work they are genuinely proud of.

• Layering and burnishing techniques
• Color mixing and value building
• Selecting and understanding your paper and pencil options
• Working from observation and reference
• Developing patience, precision, and a light touch
• Building toward finished, polished work

Sessions are 60 minutes and held virtually via Zoom or Google Meet, or in person for local students in the Charlottesville area. A materials list will be provided before your first session.
