These private painting lessons are designed for beginners and students with some experience who want personalized instruction, honest feedback, and a foundation they can actually build on. Choose between oil or acrylic depending on your goals and what draws you to painting.

A note on oil painting:

These lessons teach traditional oil painting techniques without the use of harmful solvents or chemicals. You get the richness, blendability, and depth that makes oil paint worth learning, without the fumes or hazardous materials. This approach is safe for home studios and beginners.

• Brushwork and mark making
• Painting from observation and reference

• Developing your eye and your confidence as a painter

Sessions are 60 minutes and held virtually via Zoom or Google Meet, or in person for local students in the Charlottesville area. Before your first session you will receive a materials list tailored to your chosen medium.
